Day 3 Second day in Madrid
At the Botanical Gardens
Started our day with a wonderful buffet at our motel. Breakfast dessert: Churros dipped in chocolate. Oh yum! Next a guided tour on a bus of notable locations of central and old town Madrid. Then a guided walking tour of Plaza Mayor. Dennis liked it because of bull fights, trial by inquisition and executions.( historical of course) At the end of the walking tour we enjoyed some tapas at the Mercado de San Miguel. Two wonderful young German women at our shared table (a police woman and a specialty auto parts associate). Then a trip to the Royal Palace/plaza and the National Cathedral. And......lots of people. Enjoyed the ringing of the bells at 12 noon. So...that was our morning! After a brief rest, we took a walk through the botanical gardens followed by a walk on the Gran Via back to our hotel. The gardens were a quiet respite to a bustling city a fence away. The Gran Via is a smaller version to NYC's Time Square with lighted billboards, chic clothiers and a variety of performing arts. Ended the day with a group dinner at a local fish e restaurant. Enjoy the pictures.
